The 15x lens should appear clear as in the picture below:
The text referring to a "colored ring" on the instructions are a misprint and pertain only to the 4x and 8x lenses. The 15x lens should be stuck onto the camera with the flat side facing the phone as shown.
Today I got an email from a customer asking if we were still making and selling lenses. Apparently I haven't updated the blog in almost a year!
Well, the answer is that things are going better than ever. I have been working more on the "business" side of things (partnerships, school & medical outreach, product development, advertising) but apparently the website blog slipped my attention!
I am especially excited for a new product I have been working on for the better part of the year. It should push even closer to my goal of making microscopy affordable and accessible for everyone. Expect some more details late summer or fall. But don't worry about it making the current lenses obsolete, it will be significantly different.
All lower magnification lenses (4x, 8x, and 15x) will be 40% off for November and December 2016. We have been in business for 3 years and this is our first time having a sale of this magnitude. We hope that you will consider purchasing our devices as a neat gift for the science lover in your life.
Shipping info. For best odds of receiving by Christmas:
-USA: Order by Dec. 20th
-Canada: Order by Dec. 7th
-Western Europe: Order by Nov. 25th
-Rest of the World: Order ASAP
A note on shipping times: We use USPS to ship all orders. We have had good luck shipping around the holidays in the past, but it is the busiest time of the year for the postal service and can be somewhat unpredictable. For example shipping to Western Europe typically only takes 2-3 weeks, but can take longer during this time.
We have just launched a Kickstarter to raise funds for our newest product: a pair of 4x and 8x Macro Lenses. You can back the project at Kickstarter and be one of the first to receive these new lenses at a one-time only Kickstarter special price.
